The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) - the league table

Each year the government will publish a performance league table showing how organisations compare in the CRC.  This will create a strong reputational driver for good emissions performance

League table positions will be based on a series of metrics.  As illustrated below, these are:

  • Early action metric - Consists of two equally weighted elements; the Carbon Trust Standard (or equivalent) element and the AMR  (automatic meter reading) element.  You need to establish a business case for investing in both of these options.  Your score in the AMR metric is based on your AMR energy coverage in 2010/11, from the point the meters are installed, so the clock is ticking on the benefits you may get from this metric.
  • Absolute metric - emissions increase or reduction.
  • Growth metric - emissions increase/reduction versus financial growth/decline.  Often referred to as 'carbon intensity'.

You will need to have a plan for continued emission reductions, year-on-year, to ensure that absolute reductions compare favourably with the other 5,000 organisations in the scheme and that you receive the highest possible league table position.
