The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) - penalties for non-compliance
If you qualify for the CRC scheme, non-compliance is not an option. Penalties start at £5,000 (plus £500 per day) for failure to register, with additional charges for failure to report, record or surrender sufficient allowances. Fines could easily exceed £50,000.
Some of the CRC non-compliance penalties

Failure to keep adequate records | £40/tCO2 for emissions in most recent reporting year |
