Heather Hedden joins PPC

Project Performance Corporation (PPC), part of the AEA group, announced today that Heather Hedden will join the company's Information Management team. Ms. Hedden, author of The Accidental Taxonomist, brings 15 years of taxonomy experience to PPC's team, strengthening its industry leading position.

Prior to joining PPC, Ms. Hedden worked as a controlled vocabulary editor at the periodical index and reference database publisher Gale, as a taxonomist at the enterprise search software vendor Viziant, and as the taxonomy manager at the wind energy company First-Wind. She has also provided taxonomy development, indexing, and training services through her own business, Hedden Information Management.

 

In addition to The Accidental Taxonomist, Ms. Hedden has authored numerous published articles on taxonomy related topics. She also regularly teaches a popular online workshop on Taxonomies & Controlled Vocabularies through Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science. Ms. Hedden is chair of the mentoring committee of the Taxonomy Division of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) and manager of the Taxonomies & Controlled Vocabularies Special Interest Group of the American Society for Indexing (ASI). She is also a past president of the New England Chapter of ASI. She earned a B.A. in Government from Cornell University and an M.A. in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University.
