AEA’s Chris Dodwell helps businesses understand the implications of Durban

 

AEA’s knowledge leader Chris Dodwell joined a high profile panel of experts to provide first hand reports on the outcomes of the Durban Summit and what it means to UK green industry at a sell-out event in London on Thursday 26 January.

 

ecoConnect's Green in the City Forum was moderated by well-known environmentalist Tony Juniper and the panelists also included Rupert Edwards managing director of policy and market research at Climate Change Capital, Ben Lyon, head of negotiations international climate change division at DECC and Bob Ward, Policy and Communications Director at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at London School of Economics.

 

The event brought together top finance executives, entrepreneurs, leading innovators and opinion leaders driving the development of green industry policy, technologies and investment. Delegates discussed the implications of Durban and the impacts on businesses following the agreement struck in South Africa. A number of important topics were tackled in the question and answer session including the importance of nations implementing their international pledges, the future of the international carbon market and how to bridge the gap between commitments made to date and the level of emission reductions needed to avoid dangerous climate change. 

 

Chris Dodwell is AEA’s knowledge leader for international climate change and energy. He joined AEA from the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change where he was head of international climate policy. Previously, Chris was head of international climate negotiations leading the UK delegation to the UNFCCC talks in Nairobi and Bali. He also has extensive experience of carbon market policy having led the UK's implementation of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.
